Real courage is found, not in the willingness to risk death, but in the willingness to stand, alone if necessary, against the ignorant and disapproving herd. Jon Roland, 1976

Enemies Of The State

Enemies Of The State, ABC's Shark Tank

So it is good to make things overseas, right. It is cheaper and the products are of a higher quality. BULLSHIT! Let's take a look at the opportunistic outsourcing parasite scum who make up the panel of "sharks". The fact is these folks are no more than Disney stooges pitching the same stale Disney globalistic anti-American agenda they have for years. Profit before people is the "happiest place on earth" agenda Disney has promoted for decades. The folks at "Occupy" might want to look at this and try going after the real enemies of the state.

Now in fairness, which is a term most of the sharks and Disney know nothing about,  The show is about giving "budding entrepreneurs the chance to make their dreams come true, and possibly make a business deal that will make them a millionaire".

What is an 'entrepreneur', Entrepreneur in English is a term applied to a person who is willing to help launch a new venture or enterprise and accept full responsibility for the outcome. Jean-Baptiste Say, a French economist, is believed to have coined the word "entrepreneur" in the 19th century - he defined an entrepreneur as "one who undertakes an enterprise, especially a contractor, acting as intermediatory between capital and labor", (wiki).

Get the picture, It is good to invest in overseas manufacturing if it will mean a greater monetary return on the investment.

Robert Herjavec: Never manufactured a thing in his life from what I can tell, a waiter turned salesman for IBM. Formed his own company that imported security technology into Canada. Makes a habit of working on television shows based on the premise of entrepreneurs although he has no actual experience in physical product design or manufacturing.

Question, What do you think are the traits of a great entrepreneur?

Answer,  Many – but most important is the ability to be relentless as the sand shifts around you. I always say "quick is good – relentless is better."

Well Robert that answer was helpful.

Damon John, Believing his own racial hype. FUBU an acronym that expressed the founders purpose of a clothing line created by African Americans for African Americans.

(wiki)FUBU's origins date to 1992. At the time, wool hats with cut-off tops were popular, and John noticed them being sold for $20, which he considered overpriced. He went home and sewed around 80 hats with his next-door neighbor, Carl Brown. They sold their homemade hats for $10 each in front of the New York Coliseum, and made $800 in a single day.

Sensing potential, Daymond and his mother mortgaged their house for $100,000 to generate start-up capital. In addition to Brown, he recruited longtime friends J. Alexander Martin and Keith Perrin into the business, and began sewing the FUBU logo onto hockey jerseys, sweatshirts, and t-shirts. To make ends meet, John held a full-time job at Red Lobster, working on the FUBU business in between shifts. In 1993, he convinced LL Cool J, an old neighborhood friend, to wear a FUBU t-shirt for a promotional campaign. Later, while filming a 30-second advertising spot for The Gap, LL Cool J wore a FUBU hat in the commercial and incorporated the line "for us, by us" in his rapping.

FUBU gained nationwide exposure when John and his partners traveled to Magic, a trade show in Las Vegas in 1994. Despite not being able to afford a booth, FUBU received over $300,000 worth of orders. FUBU continued growing, signing contracts with Macy’s, J.C. Penney's, and the National Basketball Association and a distribution deal with Samsung Electronics. By 1998, FUBU returned $350 million in revenues. Currently, FUBU has amassed over six billion dollars in global sales.

Hyping the disappointment. The original meaning of FUBU was "Five Urban Brothers United," but the "For U, by U" line later took root as the clothing line expanded. The company FUBU originally started for their local youth community which were quickly and quietly replaced by imported products from around the world.

Barbara Corcoran. From what I have observed on the show she is the only one of the "shark" whose first words are not "make it overseas". I have seen her work with several domestic startup businesses, but then there were dozens of others that were immediately outsourced.

Question: How do I know if there's a real need for my product or service?

Answer: Make a list of every product out there already answering the need and be super critical as to whether yours is a better mousetrap. Also ask your family, friends and enemies if they would buy it and what they would readily pay.

That answer is very good advice. Of the current "sharks" Barbara Corcoran is the only one I would ever submit a proposal to.

I saved the worst for last. Kevin O'Leary, O'Leary started a software company in the basement of a small Toronto home along with partners John Freeman and Gary Babcock. His mother provided the seed investment of $10,000, which he used to start software publisher SoftKey. Softkey products typically consisted of software intended for home audiences, especially compilation discs containing various freeware or shareware game software packaged in a "jewel-case" CD-ROM. By 1994, Softkey had become a major consolidator in the educational software market, acquiring no less than sixty rivals, such as WordStar and Spinnaker Software. In 1995, Softkey acquired The Learning Company (TLC) for $606 million, moved its headquarters to Boston, and took The Learning Company as its name. TLC bought its former rival Brøderbund in June 1998 for $416 million. In 1999, The Learning Company and its 467 software titles were acquired by Mattel in a $3.8 billion stock swap. Sales and earnings for Mattel soon dropped, and O'Leary departed from Mattel. The purchase by Mattel was later called one of the most disastrous acquisitions in history. There is a legacy, I wonder why they don't mention that end part on on the show? .

What is also noteworthy is the sharks did not make their so well publicized fortunes doing business, but by selling a business. Now they all invest in other startups and work in venture capital as mini financiers who have one basic guiding principal, profit. Of all only Damon has ever manufactured anything himself. Both Kevin and Robert worked on the predecessor to Shark Tank, "Dragons Den".

If you watch the show you will notice two people not included here and with good reason.
